ABOUT THE COURSE

Because it allows learning in the various segments of the journalistic activity, the Journalism Course of the Santa Cecília University (UNISANTA) offers the graduates a high index of employability. There are many examples of alumni who today occupy prominent places in the profession. They are reporters and presenters of Radio and TV, international correspondents, magazine publishers, print and digital newspapers, photographers, advisors in companies and public institutions.

The combination of theory and practice coupled with the high qualification and experience of the faculty ensures a professional training of excellence, attested by the successive results obtained in the evaluations of the Ministry od Education and highlighted in the Student Guide of Abril publishing company.

The course also have great prestige in the academic universe. It won in several categories in the Experimental Communication Research Exhibition (Expocom): Best Digital Journal, Printed Magazine, Journal - Laboratory and Custom Magazine. The Mural Journal First Text, produced in the second year, addresses issues relevant to communities and philanthropic entities in the region. The editions reflect favorably on the communities approached and on the Town Hall.

Since the second year, students have learned in practice to produce multimedia journalism, with video, photos, podcasts and twitter in the newspaper Online, first in the genre in Brazil and the most awarded in Expocom. It maintains news page elaborated by the students in the Santaportal, contributing, thus, to take service information to the community.

Internships are provided in the Santa Cecilia Communications, Radio and TV System, in large facilities. From the first to the fourth year, students produce daily the UNISANTA Espaço TV program, with news of community interest, under the supervision of teachers and professionals. They participate in the Regional Writing Program, in Santa Cecília TV, and in Special Projects.

UNISANTA Space was considered the best TV news of University in the 18th Cine Video Festival of Gramado, RS; Best short film of social responsibility, granted by ABMES, and the best TV program at the V Aruanda Festival of Brazilian University Audiovisual. Also relevant are the production of video documentaries, in partnership with associations and entities.

The newspaper Primeira Impressão, cited by Press magazine as one of the five best in the country, had its importance highlighted by the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo and the Municipality of Santos.

Students produce a printed Academic Journal. In addition, the routine of the daily printed newspaper is experienced during the coverage of various events.

In the election year, all the vehicles of the Course make special coverage on the regional elections, with texts, photos, images and audios.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The evaluations of the students are based on the skills and abilities necessary for the professional exercise, being defined in the Pedagogical Project of each Course of Graduation or Technology, following the Curricular Guidelines and the General Regiment of UNISANTA.

The evaluation of the school performance is done by discipline, according to the curricular activities developed, covering the aspects of frequency and grade.

It is considered approved in each discipline the student who has attended at least 75% of the academic work expected and obtained arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 5 (five) between the grade resulting from the partial evaluations and the final exam.

The final evaluation is granted only to the student who obtains, in each discipline, arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 3 (three), resulting from the partial evaluations.

The student who, in the course under study, has met the minimum frequency requirement and obtained an average of 7 (seven) or higher as a result of the partial assessments is waived from the final exam.
