ABOUT THE COURSE
Since the first semester, the students participate in actions of the Dentistry Clinic of the Faculty, as auxiliaries of the trainees. External activities, supervised by professors in community centers and schools in the region, are developed starting from the third semester.
The Mobile Trailer Unit, specially adapted to cover several neighborhoods, has been totally revitalized for preventive oral cancer examinations, with the support of the Rotary Club of Santos - Port.
The work in the mobile unit also involves the provision of fundamental dental services and guidance on brushing. During the campaigns, the students work in rotation system, always guided by professors of the Stomatology chair, as part of the Integrated Clinic activities. Since 2003, this mobile unit is used by students and professors of the University. In the neighborhoods, about 300 people are treated free of charge per campaign, with at least one case of oral cancer per action being diagnosed.
Laboratories and clinics - The Faculty of Dentistry of UNISANTA promotes constant updates in its facilities and devices. Among the most modern equipment of the surgical center is an operating microscope that can transmit detailed images of the surgeries performed in the Clinic to the auditorium, installed on another floor.
The facilities of the Diagnostic Imaging Center were expanded with a state-of-the-art digital panoramic radiography and teleradiography, which makes a lateral view of the head.
The Multidisciplinary Laboratory had its area doubled. The student has available to individual benches, where all the operations of an office are reproduced, with operating table microscope for simultaneous projection. Silicon heads (Bob) allow for a perfect simulation closer to reality, with the use of water and reflectors. There are three simultaneous screens for classroom projection and hands-on technique.

OTHER INFORMATION
An oxygen central, in addition to equipment, allows monitoring the patient in more invasive procedures. One such device is the capnograph, which measures the carbon dioxide and anesthetic gases inhaled by the patient during surgeries. Another example is the pulse oximeter, a device that indirectly measures the amount of oxygen in a patient's blood and the heart rate.
The clinic has a sterilization center with hospital autoclaves following the flow chart required by the Ministry of Education, in addition to the Baby Clinic, to care for babies from 0 to 30 months.
There are innovative disciplines in the curriculum, such as Clinics for Patients with Special Needs.
The newly graduated student excels in the job market, in contests and postgraduate courses. UNISANTA encourages the egress to make a Residency in hospitals or in the Faculty Clinic itself.

The evaluations of the students are based on the skills and abilities necessary for the professional exercise, being defined in the Pedagogical Project of each Course of Graduation or Technology, following the Curricular Guidelines and the General Regiment of UNISANTA.
The evaluation of the school performance is done by discipline, according to the curricular activities developed, covering the aspects of frequency and grade.
It is considered approved in each discipline the student who has attended at least 75% of the academic work expected and obtained arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 5 (five) between the grade resulting from the partial evaluations and the final exam.
The final evaluation is granted only to the student who obtains, in each discipline, arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 3 (three), resulting from the partial evaluations.
The student who, in the course under study, has met the minimum frequency requirement and obtained an average of 7 (seven) or higher as a result of the partial assessments is waived from the final exam.
