ABOUT THE COURSE

The Physiotherapist is indispensable for the treatment and prevention of many diseases and injuries caused by accidents, malformation, physical deficiencies, functional or addictions of postures. It helps in the recovery of patients with neurological, cardiac and respiratory disorders, among many abilities. The UNISANTA’s Physiotherapy Course, students find a highly qualified infrastructure and teaching staff to prepare this much-needed professional in clinics, hospitals and medical club departments.

Approval in public tender - The innovative curriculum and the quality of the faculty contribute to the approval of the alumni in the main contests of the country, in Specialization and Multiprofessional Residence. Among them, INCOR, Clinical Hospital, Emílio Ribas, Albert Einstein, USP, Unicamp, Unifesp, AACD and Getúlio Vargas foundation. There are alumni working or specializing in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, USA and Canada, as well as masters and doctorates.

Professors have award-winning research at scientific conferences. Some of them participate in international sporting events, such as Professor Marco Antônio Ferreira Alves, convened by the International Federation of Wheelchair Basketball, to be one of the classifiers in the South American Championship of the sport, and who also worked as a physiotherapist in the London Paralympics.

Clinic and internships - UNISANTA's Physiotherapy Clinic is one of the largest and best equipped in Brazil, with 1000 square meters. It functions as a laboratory for the practical classes of the course and for the care of patients in several areas: Locomotor Apparatus Lesions (Orthopedics, Traumatology, Rheumatology and Sports Physiotherapy); Adult and Child Neurology; Urogynecology and Obstetrics; Dermatology Physiotherapy and Plastic Surgery; Ambulatory Chinese Therapies (Acupuncture, Auriculotherapy, Suction Cups, Moxas, Chinese Massages, etc.).

It offers free exclusive services, such as Urogynecological Physiotherapy for pre and postpartum care, urinary incontinence and mastectomized.

It serves all amputated and insured patients of Social Security in the region, being the only Reference Center for Amputees in the south coast of São Paulo.

Trainees and professors carry out the practical activities of Physiotherapy in General Nursing and ICU in the Santa Casa de Misericórdia Hospital and Beneficência Portuguesa of Santos Hospital, as well as several institutions in the region that are attended. Athletes of high level of Santos are attended in the sector of Physical Therapy Sports.

It is the only Faculty in the Country to offer two years of curricular internships, with practical experiences since the first year of the Course.

Develops works in the area of Bioengineering, with Faculties of Engineering and Computing among others. The Nuclei of Sports Physical Therapy Studies (NEFE), the League of Urogynecology and Obstetrics and the League of Cardiopulmonary and Intensive Physiotherapy promote lectures and congresses to students, alumni and community.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The evaluations of the students are based on the skills and abilities necessary for the professional exercise, being defined in the Pedagogical Project of each Course of Graduation or Technology, following the Curricular Guidelines and the General Regiment of UNISANTA.

The evaluation of the school performance is done by discipline, according to the curricular activities developed, covering the aspects of frequency and grade.

It is considered approved in each discipline the student who has attended at least 75% of the academic work expected and obtained arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 5 (five) between the grade resulting from the partial evaluations and the final exam.

The final evaluation is granted only to the student who obtains, in each discipline, arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 3 (three), resulting from the partial evaluations.

The student who, in the course under study, has met the minimum frequency requirement and obtained an average of 7 (seven) or higher as a result of the partial assessments is waived from the final exam.
